(Columbus, Ga.) – Kinetic Credit Union awarded the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic Scholarships to two rising college students in our area on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The recipients are Ari Bruton from Kendrick High School and Ty Goodroe from Marion County High School. Ari plans to attend Savannah State University, majoring in Biology or Chemistry with the goal of becoming a Neonatologist. Ty plans to attend The University of Georgia, majoring in Finance with aspirations of becoming a Financial Planner.
“Mr. Mahoney was passionate about our community and dedicated to improving the lives of those around him,” said Mark Littleton, President and CEO. “Both Ari and Ty share this passion. In addition to being outstanding students, they exemplify well-rounded individuals who will undoubtedly become community leaders in the future.”
Each recipient received a scholarship of $2,500. The winners were selected based on their commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.
The scholarships are named in honor of former Kinetic Chairman Ron Mahoney, who passed away in January 2016. Mr. Mahoney served on the Board of Directors for 18 years and held the position of Chairman from 2007 to 2016.

Kinetic Credit Union was chartered in March of 1956. The charter was initiated by the civilian employees at Fort Benning. In July 2005, Kinetic received its community charter, allowing service to members in seven counties in Alabama and Georgia. Anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in the following counties are eligible to join: Muscogee, Chattahoochee, Harris and Marion Counties in Georgia and Lee, Russell, and Macon Counties in Alabama.
