Christian Flores joins as a Commercial Relationship Manager, and Mark FitzGerald joins as a Business Relationship Manager
MIRAMAR, Fla. – Tropical Financial Credit Union, a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution, has hired Mark FitzGerald and Christian Flores to further expand its business banking capabilities. Flores joins as a commercial relationship manager, with a focus on originating commercial loans, while FitzGerald joins as a business relationship manager, responsible for attracting and servicing new commercial members.
The two additions follow the credit union’s January rollout of a new business banking platform that empowers Tropical Financial to offer small- and midsize companies, professionals and real estate investors a full suite of commercial services comparable to those at larger banks. The platform supports lending, cash management services and Zelle® for business.
“Since we launched our new business banking platform, demand from South Florida companies has grown steadily, and we’re adding experienced bankers to keep pace,” said Richard Shaw, president and CEO of Tropical Financial Credit Union. “Technology gives us the tools to compete with the big banks but with more personalized service and local, speedier decision-making.”
Originally from England, FitzGerald brings 25 years of financial services experience to Tropical Financial, most recently serving as vice president at Bank of America, and before that, vice president at PNC. He will work with business members in Broward and Palm Beach counties on their deposit, cash management and credit needs.
Flores joins Tropical Financial from JPMorgan Chase, where he served as a business relationship manager for nearly eight years, and before that, he worked as a small-business banker at Bank of America. At Tropical Financial, he will originate business loans and commercial real estate mortgages for owner-occupied and investment properties. His geographic focus is Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

FitzGerald and Flores join Samantha Zelaya who was hired earlier this year as a business relationship manager.
Tropical Financial’s commercial banking team serves manufacturers, wholesalers, professional services firms, physicians’ practices and nonprofits, primarily in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
