October 9th, 2018195Georgia Power Federal Credit Union is acting as a drop site for Toys for Tots in Valdosta.
Each year, the Marines Corps Reserve Toys for Tots holds its campaign from Oct. 1 through Dec. 22, according to the Valdosta Daily Times. Residents visit the drop sites to donate new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to local needy children.

October 5th, 20182112Kinetic Credit Union recently presented its Golden Apple award to a teacher from Phenix City, Ala., according to a WRBL article.
Lisa Wilson, a teacher at Lakewood Elementary School, was nominated by a parent who told WRBL that Wilson appears to have endless energy and love for her students.
"It's a huge honor to win the Golden Apple award," Wilson told WRBL. "The parent that nominated me, she's a great parent with great kids. I strive to make all of my lessons very engaging so that the kids can really grasp it and succeed each year."

October 5th, 2018278Kinetic Credit Union recently awarded its Golden Apple to a Richards Middle School math teacher.
Afinju Mcdowell, a 22-year retired Marine Corps veteran, was nominated by his wife Judi, according to a WRBL article. His wife told WRBL that Mcdowell never knew how much he impacted students until he received a letter from one of them thanking the teacher for all he had done.
Kinetic's Clint Perkins presented Mcdowell with the award.

October 4th, 20181103Robins Financial Credit Union recently contributed more than $10,000 to adopt a room at Project Safe's emergency shelter.
Project Safe is an organization working to end domestic violence through prevention, crisis intervention, ongoing supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Robins' donation will purchase bedroom furniture for their emergency shelter.
Robins made the donation as part of its annual Community Project, through which it provides funds to organizations selected by a board committee based on their reputation and the work they do for the community.

The $1.3 billion-asset credit union based in Marietta finalized the acquisition of Georgia Heritage Bank on Sept. 28. The two financial institutions are now one entity, operating under the LGE Community Crdit Union name and charter.

The credit union presented its donation to the Monroe County Adult and Community Education Dictionary and Thesaurus Program. Monroe County ACE is a non-profit organization striving to increase the literacy level of citizens in Monroe County. Its Dictionary and Thesaurus Program distributes dictionaries and thesauruses to children in the Monroe County School System to encourage reading and learning.
