AmFirst Supports Four New Change Agents

March 12th, 2024 Lizeth George Lizeth George Alabama, Credit Union News 0 comments

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Mar. 8, 2024) — America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst) officially announced four new charitable giving partnerships through its Community First Initiative on Friday, March 1.
AmFirst will join forces with SafeHouse of Shelby County, Pathways, Girls Inc. of Central Alabama and Cahaba Valley Health Care to raise funds and volunteer in 2024.

“We’re thrilled to announce four new Community First recipients doing incredible work around Central Alabama,” said Bill Connor, AmFirst president and CEO. “Each year, our employees nominate and vote on these organizations, so we’re proud to say that their compassionate missions reflect our values as an institution.”

• SafeHouse empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence through support and advocacy and educates the community to prevent future abuse. They strive to one day exist in a community that has eliminated domestic violence and sexual assault as a result of social change and education.
• Pathways empowers women and children on their path out of homelessness through hospitality, housing and hope. Pathways provides case management services to all of their guests to connect them with needed resources to help build the skills and confidence needed to transition out of homelessness.
• Girls Inc. of Central Alabama inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, providing girls throughout Central Alabama with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. The Girls Inc. Experience consists of people, an environment, and STEM heavy programming that, together, empower girls to succeed.
• Cahaba Valley Health Care provides dental and vision services for people in financial need in Jefferson and Shelby counties while maintaining dignity, respecting cultural diversity, and strengthening the community. They partner with agencies in Central Alabama, such as the UAB School of Dentistry, Christ Health Center, Alabama Regional Medical Services, Hope Health Clinic and The Foundry to provide patients with the care that they need.

Through the Community First Initiative, AmFirst has donated over $1.1 million to local nonprofits and organizations since 2014. The credit union plans to strengthen that tradition alongside the 2024 Community First cohort.

“These four new partnerships represent the start of a new decade of giving through Community First,” Connor said. “We look forward to sharing more about our work with these groups, and we invite others to join us in supporting them this year.”
