Free community sessions highlight scams, prevention tips and resources to stay safe
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – October 9, 2025 – RadiFi Credit Union, committed to empowering its members and the Northeast Florida community with financial wellness and safety, is partnering with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Economic Crime Detectives to host a seminar series focused on scam prevention and fraud awareness.
The seminars are designed to help individuals recognize, avoid and respond to common scams that continue to affect residents across the state.This initiative by RadiFi comes at a crucial time, as The Federal Trade Commission reported a huge jump in fraud in 2024, showing that Florida ranked first in the nation in internet scams with Floridians reporting $866 million in losses and over 115,000 identity theft incidents. Florida also took the top national ranking for credit card identity theft according to a recent study by Lending Tree.
Detectives from JSO’s Economic Crimes Unit will also share insights on current fraud trends seen in Jacksonville and provide additional prevention strategies. Each session will conclude with an interactive Q&A session. Light refreshments and take-home educational materials will be provided for all attendees. Participants will gain practical tools and knowledge, including:

Common scams: Romance scams, gift card scams (especially prevalent during the holiday season) and charity/nonprofit scams.

Real-life examples of recent cases in Jacksonville.

Warning signs and red flags to help spot fraudulent activity.

Guidance on how to decline fraudulent requests with confidence.

Steps to take if you become a victim, including reporting and recovery actions
