November 6th, 2023 Lizeth George Lizeth George Alabama, Credit Union News 0 comments

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Through Credit Unions for Kids, numerous credit unions are committed to partnering with their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This initiative allows credit unions to show how much they care, not only about their members financial wellbeing, but the wellness of families in the community also. Since 2009, ēCO Credit Union has supported Children’s of Alabama for fourteen years and has historically been the top fundraising credit union in the state of Alabama.

ēCO Credit Union’s 2023 Change for Children’s fundraiser, created to support Children’s of Alabama, took place from September 6th through October 20th. Members and the community were able to donate at all six ēCO Credit Union branches and through an online fundraising platform. ēCO also received a $5,000 Miracle Match from Co-Op. After the fundraiser, ēCO donated more than $40,000 to Children’s of Alabama.

ēCO employees are avid and passionate participants in the campaign for Children’s of Alabama. Their passion is felt throughout ēCO’s membership and community. The difference the hospital makes in the lives of Children and families across Alabama is a driving force behind the community wide enthusiasm. Every person gets excited about raising funds to support. ēCO’s members are very quick to support Children’s Hospital and always go above and beyond with their contributions.

“We are fortunate to have Children’s of Alabama in our backyard,” said Joey Hand, ēCO CEO. “In our fourteenth campaign, it remains exciting to see ēCO’s employees, members, and partners come together in support of Children’s of Alabama! We are appreciative of the opportunity to support an organization impacting our community.”

ēCO Credit Union has raised nearly $560,000 to support Children’s of Alabama in 14 years of fundraising.

“Year after year I am blown away by the commitment and generosity of ēCO’s employees and members! We are grateful to ēCO Credit Union’s employees and members who have contributed to Children’s of Alabama through this year’s campaign,” said Charlie Ann Shepard, Community Development Coordinator at Children’s of Alabama. “Funds from ēCO help Children’s provide transformational care and services that treat the whole child, both physically and emotionally. The support of ēCO continues to be an encouragement to all of us here at Children’s and helps provide brighter futures for children from all across Alabama. We know community is at the center of ēCO’s mission, and we are proud to be the beneficiary of their efforts to better healthcare for children in their local communities.
