Velocity Community Credit Union Expands Field of Membership Into Martin and St. Lucie Counties

Move into Treasure Coast markets follows credit union’s transition to a state charter and sets the stage for future branch expansion

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Velocity Community Credit Union, a Palm Beach Gardens-based financial institution, has expanded its field of membership into Martin and St. Lucie counties, extending its reach into two fast-growing Treasure Coast markets.

The expansion follows Velocity Community’s recent transition from a federally chartered to a state-chartered credit union, a move that provides greater flexibility to grow its geographic footprint and membership.

The credit union, which was formed over six decades ago by Pratt & Whitney employees, already has several members in Martin and St. Lucie counties who were eligible to join through their association with the aerospace manufacturer. Now, anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in either county can become a member, extending the community-based membership model Velocity Community Credit Union has had in Palm Beach County since 2008.

“Expanding north not only allows us to better serve members who have been with us for years but also allows us to introduce our credit union to a broader group of people who may be looking for a new financial partner,” said Jeff Marshall, president and CEO of Velocity Community Credit Union. “As we grow our presence in Martin and St. Lucie counties, we want to bring the same personalized service and community-focused approach that has been part of who we are since our founding.”

Plans call for establishing branches in Martin and St. Lucie counties at a future date, providing greater convenience for existing members while introducing the credit union to new members throughout the region.

The expansion comes as Velocity Community Credit Union continues to invest in its branch network. In September, it opened a new branch at 12455 Northlake Blvd. in Avenir, the growing master-planned community in Palm Beach Gardens. The financial institution is also undertaking a major renovation of its Jupiter branch at 6779 W. Indiantown Road, which temporarily closed  on Oct. 19, while significant improvements are made to enhance the member experience. The Jupiter location will also help support continued growth northward.

Velocity Community Credit Union offers a full range of consumer and business financial services, including checking and savings accounts, certificates, auto and personal loans, mortgages, credit cards and digital banking services.
