Credit Union of Georgia Hosts Cobb County Educators for Career Education Teacher Externships

KENNESAW, GA — Credit Union of Georgia proudly welcomed educators from the Cobb County School District on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 as part of the district’s Career Education Teacher Externship Program. The immersive experience provided teachers with firsthand exposure to the day-to-day operations of a financial institution, equipping them with valuable industry insights they can bring back to their classrooms.

Throughout the day, participating educators shadowed professionals across several key departments, including Marketing, Information Technology, Operations, Accounting, and Human Resources. Team members shared how their roles contribute to the credit union’s mission while highlighting the technical, professional, and leadership skills students need to succeed in today’s workforce.

The externship program is designed to strengthen the connection between education and industry by providing teachers with current, real-world workplace experiences. Educators then use those experiences to enhance classroom instruction and better prepare students for future careers.

“Our partnership with Cobb County School District is rooted in education,” said Amanda Arnold, Director of Community Outreach at Credit Union of Georgia. “Since our founding by Cobb County educators in 1960, supporting students and teachers has remained at the heart of everything we do. Hosting these outstanding educators allows us to share the many career opportunities available within the financial services industry while helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and the workplace.”

During the externship, teachers explored career pathways in financial services, marketing, technology, accounting, human resources, and business operations while engaging with professionals who shared their educational backgrounds, career journeys, and the skills required to excel in each field.

“We are honored to support Cobb County’s commitment to career education,” Arnold added. “By investing in our educators today, we’re helping inspire and prepare the workforce of tomorrow.”

Credit Union of Georgia remains committed to supporting education through financial literacy programs, educator partnerships, classroom resources, scholarships, and community engagement initiatives throughout the communities it serves.
