Macon, Ga. – Robins Financial Credit Union donated $70,000 to Bibb County non-profits in honor of its 70th anniversary at the grand opening celebration of its new Downtown Macon branch on June 27.

“Our commitment to being Community Proud means that ties to our community go beyond the walls of our branches,” stated Christina O’Brien, Robins Financial president and CEO. “We actively participate in local initiatives and volunteer at various community events because we believe in improving the lives of those around us. A strong community benefits us all, and we take pride in contributing to this positive change.”

Three of the donations were given through the annual Robins Financial Community Project initiative that started in 2015 and has contributed to more than $1.6 million to non-profits within the communities they serve since its inception. Applications are accepted each year from March 1 through the end of April.

Men About Change received $30,000 to provide educational aid, mentoring and leadership support to youth. Ronald McDonald House Charities received $15,000 to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Otis Redding Center for the Arts received $10,000 to continue to provide opportunities for students to explore their creativity, learn to collaborate, communicate their ideas, and better express themselves.

“Love of community is what makes Macon so special, and Robins Financial Credit Union has played a very important role for years in support of all things community,” stated Karla Redding-Andrews, VP and executive director of the Otis Redding Foundation. “The Otis Redding Foundation is so grateful to be chosen as one of the Community Project recipients.”

An additional donation of $15,000 was awarded to Bibb County Schools’ education program for homeless students under the McKinney-Vento Act, which supports youth and their education during challenging times.

Robins Financial Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperative committed to upholding its mission to be Member Focused. Financial Partners. Community Proud. Chartered in 1954 by a group of 13 Robins Air Force Base civilian and military personnel, the financial institution now serves more than 271,000 members across the state of Georgia and beyond.
