Alabama ONE Credit Union Celebrates 75 Years with Statewide Branch Celebrations and Community Giving

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — May 14, 2026 — Alabama ONE Credit Union is proud to celebrate 75 years of service, growth, and unwavering commitment to the communities it serves. Throughout 2026, Alabama ONE will host special 75th Anniversary Branch Celebrations at each of its 31 locations across the state, honoring the members who have made the credit union’s success possible.

Founded in 1951 with just seven charter members, $35, and a cigar box, Alabama ONE has grown into a thriving statewide cooperative rooted in trust, service, and connection. This milestone anniversary reflects decades of dedication to helping individuals, families, and communities achieve financial well-being.

“Reaching 75 years is more than a milestone—it’s a testament to the strength of our members and the communities we serve,” said Whitney Oswalt, Chief Executive Officer at Alabama ONE. “We’re celebrating the best way we know how: by giving back and saying thank you to the people who make us ONE.”

Originally established as TRW (Tire and Rubber Workers) Federal Credit Union, the organization evolved into BF Goodrich Employees Federal Credit Union before becoming Alabama ONE Credit Union in 2009. Throughout its history, the credit union has expanded beyond Tuscaloosa County, achieved community charter status, and grown through strategic mergers with like-minded institutions, including Alabama Mental Health Credit Union, Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union, Brewton Mill Federal Credit Union, and McIntosh Chemical Federal Credit Union. Recent acquisitions of First Bank of Linden and First Bank of Wadley have further strengthened Alabama ONE’s presence, particularly in rural communities.

Each anniversary celebration will feature festive 75th anniversary décor, refreshments, and exclusive Alabama ONE merchandise. As part of the festivities, every branch will present a $750 donation to a local nonprofit organization of its choice, reinforcing the credit union’s commitment to making a meaningful, localized impact.

A highlight of the anniversary is a limited-edition 75th Anniversary T-shirt, designed to visually tell Alabama ONE’s story. The back of the shirt features illustrated symbols inspired by the towns, landmarks, and people that define the credit union’s branch communities—reflecting the belief that each branch is more than a location; it is a vital connection to local identity, families, and shared progress.

In addition, Alabama ONE has produced a commemorative video showcasing its journey and reaffirming its mission to be a trusted financial partner dedicated to community strength and cooperative values.

“As we celebrate our history, we’re also looking ahead,” Whitney Oswalt added. “Our purpose remains the same—to promote financial security, support our communities, and carry forward the cooperative spirit that has guided us since day one.”

Alabama ONE Credit Union looks forward to continuing its legacy of service and impact alongside fellow credit unions and community partners across the state – ONE. Together. Since 1951.
