The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce named GeoVista Credit Union CEO Elaine R. Tuten the 2017 Business Leader of the Year. Leah Poole, the Chamber CEO, presented Tuten with the award at the 2018 Chamber Annual Banquet and Taste of Liberty.

The Macon-based credit union coordinated with Bibb County School District to officially unveil its new student-run credit union branch inside the district’s Hutchings College and Career Academy on Tuesday.

The Duluth-based credit union announced Thursday an expanded partnership with the Georgia Tech Athletic Association to become its official credit union, according to a Georgia United press release.

The U.S. economy’s strong third quarter helped launch Georgia credit unions toward a fourth-straight year of double-digit loan growth.
Unemployment rates in the United States fell to a nearly 17-year low in the third quarter and consumer spending remained strong. That showed in the loan portfolios of Georgia credit unions.
By the end of September, lending increased by 10.7 percent on a year-over-year basis, according to data collected by the Credit Union National Association. That about matches the average 10.5 percent year-over-year loan growth for credit unions nationally.

This week, the credit union became the Official Credit Union of University of Georgia Athletics. Georgia United has sponsored Georgia's athletics department since 2015.
