Despite growing financial comfort, Georgia credit union members don’t appear to be slipping back into dangerous consumer patterns evident across the country just before the Great Recession of 2008.

Peach State Federal Credit Union is a Community Development Financial Institution, a designation given to financial institutions committed to providing affordable lending and financial services to help low-income and other disadvantaged people and communities join the economic mainstream. Garcia joined Delta Community in 2009 as a teller at its retail branch in Duluth, according to a Johns Creek Herald article.
Since then, Garcia has served as a cash management coordinator, member service adviser and assistant branch manager in Delta Community locations from Gainesville to Hapeville.

This year, the credit union will award $161,200 in scholarships and educational grants to seniors in high school and professionals seeking career advancement. The credit union will award nine $2,ooo Legacy Student Scholarships, 15 school system and community honoree student scholarships at $2,000 each and 24 Career Advancement Scholarships at $2,000 each.
Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring of 2019 and will be invited to attend a reception in their honor.

On Oct. 11, about 60 golfers from sponsoring agencies came to Southbridge Golf Course in Savannah to participate in Georgia Heritage’s 10th Annual Chip in Fore Children’s Miracle Network Golf Tournament. The day included 18 holes of golf, lunch and an awards reception. All proceeds benefitted Children’s Miracle Network, which helps its affiliated hospitals cover the cost of treatment for sick and injured kids in their care.
