October 22nd, 20181109Peach State Federal Credit Union CEO Marshall Boutwell recently weighed in on a recent merger in a Credit Union Journal article titled, "Already struggling, small CUs' numbers further depleted by mergers.'
"It's a cold, hard fact that small credit unions are going to sstruggle bechause of compliance, technology and other reasons," Boutwell said. "If your assets are $10 $15 $20 million, and you're not growing robustly, unless you are a niche player, the world has already passed you by. You should be looking for opportunities to fold in with other successful credit unions."

The credit union presented Macon Regional Crimestoppers with a donation to the 12th annual David Pierce Memorial Law Enforcement Dinner. The event is designed to partner law enforcement, the community and media to help keep people safe, according to a Credit Union Journal article.

The donations from Peach State will begin this year.
The Habersham Community Theatre is located in the historic Habersham Theater, built as a movie theater in 1937. Now, the theater offers dramas, musicals, children's productions art exhibits and more. The two credit unions have a combined $1 billion in assets, 20 branches and more than 50 ATMs in Georgia and South Carolina. Their intent to merge has already been approved by each credit union's board of directors. The merger is still subject to regulatory approvals, but is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

October 10th, 20182135Atlanta Postal Credit Union recently announced the appointment of Mike Cantrell, a distinguished postal service retiree, as its newest board member.
Cantrell worked with the United States Postal Service as a rural letter career for 25 years, retiring in 2012. During his postal career, Cantrell held several leadership positions for the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association. He was also elected as the Georgia Rural Letter Carrier's Association's state vice president in 2008 and served as president of the association from 2009 until 2011.
