SRP Federal Credit Union Celebrates International Credit Union Day ®

North Augusta, SC – On October 15, 2026, SRP Federal Credit Union and credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day ®, an annual event commemorating the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. This year marks the 78th anniversary of this annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of “Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World.”

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that provide an effective and viable alternative to for-profit financial institutions for more than 400 million members in over 100 countries worldwide. More than 67,000 credit unions exist globally, providing a variety of financial services for their members, recognized as a force for positive economic and social change.

Established in 1960 to serve Savannah River Site employees and their families, SRP Federal Credit Union has grown across the decades to serve communities across 10 counties in Georgia and South Carolina. Today, SRP is a thriving financial institution serving more than 200,000 members with 21 branches and over $2 billion in assets. SRP is dedicated to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People,” striving to uplift neighbors, support those in need, and help build a stronger, more connected community.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day® has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union and financial cooperative difference.
