Kinetic Awards $5,000 in Annual College Scholarships to Area Students

(Columbus, Ga.) – Kinetic Credit Union awarded the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic Scholarships to two rising college students in our area on Monday, May 18, 2026.

The recipients are Skylar Mackenzie Toombs from Northside High School and Lily Cameron Phillips from Columbus High School. Skylar plans to attend Spelman College, majoring in Biology with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. Lily plans to attend Auburn University, majoring in Integrative Biology as she pursues a career in veterinary medicine.

“Mr. Mahoney was passionate about our community and dedicated to improving the lives of those around him,” said Mark Littleton, President and CEO. “Skylar and Lily reflect that same commitment. In addition to being exceptional students, they demonstrate leadership, compassion, and a drive to make a meaningful impact.”

Each recipient received a scholarship of $2,500. The winners were selected based on their commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.

The scholarships are named in honor of former Kinetic Chairman Ron Mahoney, who passed away in January 2016. Mr. Mahoney served on the Board of Directors for 18 years and held the position of Chairman from 2007 to 2016.
