Democracy Federal Credit Union Volunteers Bring Holiday Cheer to Henson Creek Assisted Living Facility

Temple Hills, MD—On December 18, 2024, four dedicated employees from Democracy Federal Credit Union, affectionately known as “The 4 Tops,” gathered to host a Sing-a-Long to spread holiday cheer and the spirit of giving at the Henson Creek Assisted Living Facility in Temple Hills, MD. Located just 20 minutes from the Credit Union’s Silver Hill branch, Henson Creek Assisted Living is a valued community partner that reflects the Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to serving its members where they live, work, and gather.

Dressed in festive attire and equipped with songbooks, The 4 Tops led the residents in a lively sing-along featuring timeless holiday classics. Laughter, smiles, and warmth filled the atmosphere as residents—many of whom find this season challenging without loved ones—rediscovered a sense of community and belonging through music.

The event took a heartwarming turn when one resident joined the 4 Tops in singing. In that moment, they became “The 5 Heartbeats,” symbolizing the powerful connection and spirit of community.

“We had a blast today,” said Mrs. Evens, Assistant Lending Manager at Democracy Federal Credit Union. “We had so much fun and spread so much holiday spirit that it felt like one big family. Seeing a resident eagerly jump in to sing along was a powerful reminder of why we volunteer—to bring people together and uplift one another, especially during the holidays. This was not just about singing; it was about delivering joy, love, and understanding.”

Democracy Federal Credit Union remains committed to its mission of going beyond banking to make a positive impact in the community. By supporting local facilities like Henson Creek, the Credit Union fosters lasting relationships that extend beyond financial services, helping neighbors celebrate life’s moments—big and small.

As the New Year approaches, Democracy Federal Credit Union looks forward to continuing its tradition of hands-on service and community engagement. “We cannot wait to volunteer together again,” added Mrs. Evens. “We are committed to bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of togetherness to those who need it most throughout the year.”
