Avadian Foundation Awards Fourth Round of Grants

Birmingham, Ala. – On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Avadian Foundation awarded $50,000 in grants to organizations in the state of Alabama that are addressing needs in four key areas identified as the focus for the Foundation.

Junior Achievement, Teach For Alabama, The Literacy Council of Central Alabama, Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education, and Woodlawn United each received $10,000 grants.

The fourth round of grants given by the Foundation, these awards bring the total dollar amount of grants awarded to nearly $140,000.

“We formed the Foundation as an outgrowth of our commitment to helping people,” said Brant Malone, President and CEO of Avadian. “We want to support the financial well-being of the people in the communities around us to create a more inclusive future for all by investing in affordable housing, financial health, small business development, and education across our membership footprint.”

Junior Achievement of Alabama helps young people discover what’s possible in their lives by helping them connect what they learn in school with life outside the classroom to show them it’s possible for tomorrow to be a better day.

Teach For America-Alabama pursues educational equality for all Alabamians by finding, developing, and supporting equity-oriented leaders to transform education and the systems that shape inequality in our state.

The Literacy Council of Central Alabama seeks to address social justice and equality and strengthen communities by helping adults and their families improve their lives through literacy education that teaches people to read, write, and speak English.

Woodlawn United is a catalyst and facilitator for the transformation and revitalization of the Woodlawn community as a safe and healthy community where children learn and play, families live in quality housing, work in stable jobs, and businesses thrive.

The Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education works to ensure that parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing have the education, support, and empowerment they need to help their children learn to listen, speak, read, and integrate fully into the community.
