Avadian Expresses Gratitude to Law Enforcement Officials

July 3rd, 2023 Lizeth George Lizeth George Alabama, Credit Union News 0 comments

Birmingham, Ala. – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama has indicted six individuals on federal charges relating to the alleged card fraud committed on Avadian Credit Union on Sunday, June 18.

Avadian would like to express its sincere appreciation to the FBI, the U.S. Secret Service, and all Birmingham-area law enforcement officials for working in conjunction with Avadian Credit Union to swiftly identify the perpetrators and bring them into custody.

We also appreciate our members’ patience while we worked with law enforcement to rectify the situation.

At this time, we cannot comment further on the ongoing investigations into this alleged card fraud.
Fraud and scams of many types are on the rise, and we encourage everyone to take every possible measure to protect their identity and their financial information.

Some important tips to remember include the following:
• Unless we are responding to your request for assistance, Avadian will never ask you for your online banking username and password or ask for access to your computer or mobile device.
• Never share your personal information with people you don’t know.
• Monitor your accounts regularly using online or mobile banking and set up transaction or balance alerts so you can spot potentially fraudulent activity as quickly as possible.
• Do not trust caller ID as phone numbers can be “spoofed,” making fraudulent phone numbers appear legitimate.
