Alabama Credit Union, a leading financial institution in Alabama, is proud to announce the outcome of a comprehensive volunteering initiative aimed at fostering a culture of social responsibility and community engagement.

As a company deeply committed to making a positive impact beyond our branches, Alabama Credit Union is taking meaningful strides to contribute to the well-being of the communities in which it operates by providing each employee with 15 hours of paid time off to use at an organization of their choice. This volunteering initiative reflects the company’s dedication to philanthropy and its understanding of the broader role that financial institutions play in societal well-being.

In 2023, Alabama Credit Union employees volunteered 3,186 hours in their communities. Causes ranged from children and youth to disaster preparedness, supporting 55 organizations statewide. Alabama Credit Union’s signature charity, Secret Meals For Hungry Children, was recognized in the top three organizations volunteered at with over 683 volunteer hours. Secret Meals volunteers pack weekend food packs and distribute them to local schools to be sent home with children who have been identified as living in food insecure households. Other organizations supported include the American Heart Association, Junior Achievement, Kids to Love and many more!

CEO, Steve Swofford, expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, “At Alabama Credit Union, we believe in giving back to the communities that support us. Our volunteering program is not just a reflection of our commitment to corporate responsibility but also an embodiment of our values. We are excited to empower our employees to make a difference and contribute to the betterment of society.”
