The longest government shutdown in U.S. history didn’t stop Georgia credit union members from going about the same saving and borrowing patterns typical of the first few months of a new year.
During the first quarter of a year, consumers tend to focus on recovering from holiday spending by focusing on saving, rather than borrowing. Kinetic Credit Union will wrap up a month of celebrating Christmas in July by donating items to local agencies on July 25.
Kinetic employees and their families have donated school supplies, children's clothing, non-perishable food items, toys and more. Kinetic will also donate Cubby Bears to the Fort Benning Military Police and the Fort Benning Fire Department to give to children during emergency situations.

CORE Credit Union recently became one of a handful of local organizations collecting school supplies for children in need in Bulloch County.
The credit union hosted a donation box, which collected supplies on behalf of Prevent Child Abuse Bulloch County and United Way of Southeast Georgia. Carey Melton, executive director for the United Way of Southeast Georgia, told WSAV that she hopes these school supplies will lessen the stress burden on needy children as they head into a new school year.
