The donation was part of Georgia's Own Credit Union's "85 Acts of Kindness" to celebrate its 85th anniversary in 2019. Georgia's Own's final act was to pledge a donation to a local nonprofit charity.

Haley Roberts, a 4th-grade teacher at Bridgeport Elementary in Jackson County, was excited to win the money for her classroom, according to a WHNT News 19 article. Principal Emily Waldrop told the station that Roberts often spends her own money on the students.
