Scholarships were awarded July 9. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the credit union forewent the traditional award ceremony, instead hosting a teleconference with the recipient and EXCEL Chief Executive Officer Tom Hayden.

August 5th, 2020591VyStar Credit Union obtained more loans on behalf of small business owners through the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) than any other credit union in Florida and among the most in the U.S., according to data released by the United States Treasury Department in July.
After the PPP began accepting applications in April, VyStar originated 4,431 loans totaling $146,593,337. These funds helped local small business owners retain employees, pay bills and remain viable despite the challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

That is why when the Credit Union learned about the MDE School’s Fund-A-Need Student Scholarship Program they jumped at the opportunity to support this initiative. The scholarship program was developed to support current MDE families that have been affected by job loss due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
