October 22nd, 2018286Peach State Federal Credit Union recently announced that it will continue supporting an event that provides thousands of dollars in scholarships to Oconee County students.
Peach State made the announcement at the latest Oconeefest scholarship fundraiser Oct. 18 at the University of North Georgia's Oconee campus. The event raised about $15,700 in scholarships for Oconee County students attending any UNG campus.
Oconeefest has been raising scholarship money for several years now — and Peach State has been supporting the event just as long.

October 22nd, 2018095Robins Financial Credit Union recently made a donation aimed at healing grieving children.
The credit union based in Warner Robins, Ga., recently presented a check to Heart of Georgia Hospice to run its Camp WINGS. The camp, held from Nov. 9 until Nov. 11, is meant for youth ages 6 to 16 who are grieving the loss of a loved one, according to a Credit Union Times article. The children participate in normal camp activities and receie free grief counseling. They also live around children their own ages who have experienced similar situations.

"It's a cold, hard fact that small credit unions are going to sstruggle bechause of compliance, technology and other reasons," Boutwell said. "If your assets are $10 $15 $20 million, and you're not growing robustly, unless you are a niche player, the world has already passed you by. You should be looking for opportunities to fold in with other successful credit unions."
