January 3rd, 20200113Listerhill Credit Union will host the Auxin Herbicide Training Program for Colbert County on Jan. 15.
Alabama Cooperative Extension System crop specialists teach the Auxin Herbicide Training Programs in 16 locations across the state to train farmers who are planting cotton and soybean varieties that are resistant to dicamba herbicides. Before applying auxin herbicides these farmer need to have state certification as well as annual training to lessen the high risk of injury, according to a Southeast Ag Net Radio Network article.

December 31st, 2019090eCO Credit Union recently dedicated a boardroom to the late Dr. Eddie J. Pruden, a long-term board member who passed away on Nov. 4.
The Dr. Eddie Pruden Boardroom was dedicated during a celebration with board members, employees and Dr. Pruden's family in late December, according to a CUInsight article. HIs portrait is now proudly displayed in the boardroom.

December 27th, 2019484This year, WinSouth Credit Union helped the Marine Toys for Tots campaign in DeKalb distribute toys to more than 1,000 families from more than 400 families.
In fact, the credit union became one of the toy drive's top fundraisers of the year, according to a Times-Journal article.
This wasn't an easy year for the drive. According to the Time's article, the seventh-annual campaign suffered weather-related losses of three fundraisers as well as debilitating injuries to some of the volunteers.

December 23rd, 20190101The Birmingham Chapter of credit unions donated $8,400 during the group's recent Christmas party.
The chapter collected the money both through its own efforts and through efforts by the Birmingham Chapter Young Professionals Group through the year. The donation will help credit unions in Birmingham and the surrounding areas with financial education outreach, professional development scholarships and community development efforts.

According to Datatrac, the research firm behind CUNA’s report, credit unions in the state provided their 2.1 million credit union members $260,007,305 in direct financial benefits during the 12 months ending in June. November 22nd, 2019060Five Star Credit Union, headquartered in Dothan, Ala., recently donated more than 175 pounds of food to the Harbor, a local drop-in shelter in Dothan. The staff donated the food as part of the credit union’s annual Thanksgiving pot luck lunch. Staff was encouraged to bring canned food to share with the Harbor. Throughout the week, local homeless and underserved residents stop in at the Harbor for a hot meal and provisions for the week.
