MIRAMAR, Fla. – Tropical Financial Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution based in Broward County, is once again stepping up to support students on their educational journey by opening nominations for its annual scholarship program. The credit union will award $10,000 in scholarships this year to help ease the cost of higher education.
Three students will be selected to receive financial support: one grand prize scholarship of $5,000 and two additional scholarships of $2,500 each.
The program is open to both high school seniors planning to attend college and adult learners pursuing a college or master’s degree. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and be members of Tropical Financial Credit Union before the application deadline, which involves a simple application process.
Students need to submit an essay outlining their academic goals and how Tropical Financial has helped them along their financial journey. Community involvement, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities will also be considered.
“At Tropical Financial, we’re proud to support students of all ages in reaching for their dreams,” said Rick Shaw, president and CEO of Tropical Financial Credit Union. “Education is a powerful investment, and these scholarships are just one of the many ways we give back to our members and help shape a brighter future.”
Applications are being accepted online through May 15, 2025. To learn more about eligibility, how to apply, or how to become a member, visit: https://www.tropicalfcu.com/scholarship-2025
