Suncoast Credit Union Announces New Executive Director of Foundations

TAMPA, FLA. — Suncoast Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Kunberger as the new Executive Director of Foundations. In this role, Kunberger will oversee the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation, furthering the credit union’s mission of enriching lives and serving communities.

Kunberger brings nearly two decades of experience with Suncoast Credit Union, where he has held a variety of roles since joining the organization in 2007. His journey began as a Financial Counselor, followed by positions as Service Center Manager and most recently, Director of Service Center Operations.
“Jeff brings an abundance of passion and knowledge to this position that will benefit the missions of both the credit union and our Foundation,” said Kevin Johnson, President & CEO, Suncoast Credit Union. “His deep understanding of Suncoast’s values and commitment to community service make him the ideal leader to drive our philanthropic efforts forward.”
As Executive Director of Foundations, Kunberger will lead efforts to develop and implement impactful community initiatives, oversee donation and grant programs, and strengthen partnerships with nonprofits and organizations that serve diverse populations. His leadership will ensure that Suncoast continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across Florida.

In 2024 alone, the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation contributed $7.6 million to support local education, health, and the emotional well-being of children and their families. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has donated more than $53 million, reinforcing Suncoast’s commitment to creating lasting community impact.

Sponsored entirely by Suncoast Credit Union, the Foundation is funded through an innovative giving model: each time a Suncoast member uses a debit or credit card for a purchase, two cents are donated to the Foundation. One hundred percent of these funds go directly to nonprofit organizations, local initiatives and programs that benefit children and families. To date, the Foundation has impacted 2,777,522 children and students.
