Today, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions &Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) and the Georgia Credit Union League (GCUL) legally closed on their strategic consolidation, officially combining the two leagues and their affiliated companies into an expanded League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates.
The reconstituted LSCU & Affiliates will offer an enhanced portfolio of products and services to 342 credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Five Georgia credit unions were recently named best in the state by Forbes Magazine.
For the second consecutive year, Forbes has partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 25,0000 customers in the U.S. about their current and former relationships with financial institutions.
Credit unions were scored on overall recommendations and satisfaction, as well as on trust, terms and conditions, branch services, digital services and financial advice. Overall scores ranged from 57.2 to 96.2. Out of 5,000 credit unions in the United States, 149 qualified to be part of Forbes’ list.

Yesterday, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) held its Annual Business Meeting in Orlando, Fla., at which the membership voted to approve the proposed consolidation with the Georgia Credit Union League (GCUL). Earlier this month, the GCUL member credit unions voted via mail ballot to approve consolidating into the LSCU.

Giving back to the community is a way of life for credit unions. During this year's Southeast CUNA Management School, students took a break form the academic rigors of the program to put credit unions' "people helping people" philosophy into action.
A total of 34 credit union professionals worked together to provide school supplies for students in need in the Athens area. Members of the Class of 2019 purchased school supplies and then spent the afternoon decorating and assembling 125 supply bags, which were brought to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens.

The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday to approve a default call-blocking order, which includes a mechanism for challenging erroneous call blocking that will protect credit unions.

Many Georgia credit union members, like consumers across the country, seem to be steering away from purchasing and financing new vehicles.
As of the end of 2018, about 2.2 million Georgians were members of credit unions – about 21 percent of the state’s population.
That segment of the state has shown a cooling interest in new auto loans over the past five years, according to data from the Credit Union National Association.
