Now through February 28, the local community is encouraged to nominate an accredited K-12 school in Georgia that would benefit from a facility improvement project. This year the United Way of Central Georgia is celebrating their 100th Anniversary. Originally founded in 1922 as the Community Chest of Macon and Bibb County, the organization was created to conduct a single, community-wide fundraising campaign for local nonprofit agencies. Through the years, Community Chest of Macon and Bibb County grew and expanded along with other similar agencies in the area. Cherished Children is a nationally accredited child development program for parents that are working or attending school. Parents pay fees based on total family income. Cherished Children daycare also offers free Georgia Pre-K parenting classes and family support/parent programs.
