NEWPORT NEWS, Va.,– BayPort Credit Union is continuing its commitment to Newport News Public Schools with a $25,000 sponsorship supporting the Office of Youth Development, Family and Community Engagement (FACE) for the 2026–2027 academic year. The sponsorship will support programs and initiatives designed to empower students, strengthen families, and promote the overall well-being of the Newport News community.
BayPort Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Jennifer Coyne and Chief Member Experience Officer Ira Williams presented the $25,000 check to Newport News Public Schools Chief Academic Officer Dr. Kipp Rogers on the field at Harbor Park. As part of the August 19 School Supply Drive Night festivities, Dr. Rogers also took the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The BayPort Foundation and the Norfolk Tides collected 100 pounds of school supplies from fans during the event to benefit Newport News Public Schools students and families.
As part of the FACE sponsorship, BayPort will continue its support of the division’s Family Empowerment Series, a quarterly program designed to address critical issues affecting families. Now in its third year, BayPort’s sponsorship will include financial education sessions for parents and caregivers, providing families with practical tools and resources to strengthen their financial well-being. BayPort will also sponsor two youth empowerment conferences during the academic year. In addition, the credit union will support student-led initiatives that promote positive culture in schools and communities while encouraging the social, emotional and physical well-being of students.
