Fort Walton Beach, Fla. – Eglin Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Facilities/Procurement Specialist Andrew Funk has been selected as the Five-Star Performer of the second quarter of 2026. Andrew has been employed with the Credit Union since May 2025 and currently resides in Niceville. The Five-Star Performer Award is a quarterly employee recognition program. The nominator provides a written submission describing how the employee embraces Eglin FCU’s Values: Respectful, Trustworthy, Dedicated, Proactive and Engaged.
Andrew was nominated by his coworkers for consistently going above and beyond in his role, providing support across multiple departments, stepping in wherever needed and proactively addressing challenges throughout the Credit Union. Known for his calm, considerate and professional demeanor, Andrew approaches every situation with a positive attitude and willingness to help. In the short time he has been with Eglin FCU, his contributions have made a lasting impression at every level of the organization, earning praise from frontline employees to the President/CEO. His kindness, dependability and team-first mindset exemplify the qualities of a Five-Star Performer.
“Anyone who has interacted with Andrew can easily see why he earned this recognition,” said Marketing Communications Manager Kathey Mitchell. “He is the kind of person who quietly makes a difference every day. While ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes, he also takes the time to connect with others and offer help whenever it’s needed. Andrew sees things that others may overlook and always does the right thing, even when it isn’t the easiest choice. His integrity, initiative and genuine concern for others are evident in everything he does, and I couldn’t be more proud to have him on our team.”
“One of the things I appreciate most about Andrew is his ability to build meaningful connections with people across the organization,” said SVP of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Coale. “Every interaction with him is marked by kindness, authenticity and often a good laugh. He has a way of making people feel comfortable while never losing sight of the work that needs to be done. That balance of professionalism, positivity and genuine care for others is what makes Andrew so special and so deserving of this recognition.”
Andrew joined Eglin FCU on May 13, 2025, as a full-time Facilities/Procurement Assistant. His strong work ethic, commitment to excellence and ability to build relationships across departments quickly distinguished him as a valuable member of the team. In recognition of his contributions and dedication, he was promoted to Facilities/Procurement Specialist in November 2025, less than six months after joining the Credit Union.
“I was genuinely caught off guard by this honor, which is saying something since I usually know what’s going on around here,” Andrew commented after the surprise announcement. “I am very thankful for this recognition, but even more thankful for the opportunity to work with so many wonderful, hardworking and kind people. It’s great to be part of the Eglin FCU family, and I’m excited to keep learning, growing and helping wherever I can.”
